Website for the swiss production company Le Laboratoire Central.
From a graphic design perspective, the website required particular attention to the use of white space. As a platform for presenting films by the Switzerland-based Le Laboratoire Central, it was essential that imagery remained the primary focus. To achieve this, we developed a minimalist visual language. The resulting grid system not only foregrounds the films but also allows typography to inhabit the space with greater freedom.
The condensed cut of SF Florencesans (designed in 2001 by Apostrophic Labs) evokes the visual language of classic film posters. In dialogue with this typographic weight, and referencing the central role of Le Laboratoire Central, the logo took the form of a perfect circle, providing a deliberate and balanced counterpoint.
About Le Laboratoire Central:
Le Laboratoire Central was created in 2003 with the desire to consider production as a tool at the service of the artistic process. It is a production company dedicated to the development and production of independent and ambitious films that explore the personal universe of their authors.
A minimalist grid was designed to give typography the freedom to occupy space and achieve greater impact.
